Natural history collections by necessity involve death. Glorifying found objects involves resurrection. Both involve permanence and order, display and presentation. I contend there is no such thing as “unnatural.” Man is just as much “nature” as a frog, an elephant, a microbe. Nothing we do can be “unnatural” because we are part and parcel of the whole mess of nature, therefore we cannot do anything “unnatural.” All of our actions, thoughts, inventions, civilizations and art are all natural.—TK, 2003
